The Apple iPhone is an Internet-enabled multimedia mobile phone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. It has a multi-touch screen with virtual keyboard and buttons. The iPhone's functions include those of a camera phone and a portable media player (iPod), in addition to text messaging and visual voicemail. It also offers Internet services including e-mail, web browsing, and local Wi-Fi connectivity. It is a quad-band mobile phone that uses the GSM standard, and hence has international capability. It supports the EDGE data technology.
The Apple iPhone has a sleek interface that lacks a physical keyboard or buttons. The state of the art multi-touch screen renders a virtual keyboard when a keybord is necessary. The Apple iPhone functions as a camera phone which incorporates text messaging and visual voicemail, a handheld personal portable media player that is similar to the Apple iPod, and an Internet client that includes email, web browsing, and local Wi-Fi connectivity.
Steve Jobs unveiled the Apple iPhone to the public on January 9, 2007 in an Apple keynote address. And on the launch weekend June 29, 2007 Apple sold 270,000 iPhones in the first thirty hours.
